About Me
The things in my life that have helped form my identity are family and the many activities that I have had the opportunity to participate in. Being able to travel with my family has helped me see more than just Canada. Being able to see and tour many World War I and II sites in Europe has helped me realize and understand the sacrifices made to allow Canada to become what it is.
Group activities like curling, FLL and Junior Achievement have helped me to learn to work with others. FLL affected my identity because it showed me the different ways that other people live and the poor conditions that they live in. Junior Achievement helped me to work with other people, that were not like minded, in how to achieve a goal. Curling has let me enjoy being on a team with others in a small group. Now the things that effect my identity the most are my family and those that support me in my endeavors like school, curling, competition robotics and soap making. Curling, both competing and coaching, affect my identity because it is teaching me leadership and strategy skills, how to act in the moment to get to a goal. Competition robotics is teaching me how to problem solve and work together as a team. Soap making with my mom is a huge learning experience where we are learning how to research to make the best product. Science is tricky, and we are always trying to figure out how to improve our soap and homemade products. The teachers and support staff are very supportive of the things that I do, in and out of school. They are helping me to improve in all areas and are accommodating in the things that I do. In the future I would like to be an engineer or a software designer. To get there I am learning how to program with my father and doing things like taking courses in school like mechatronics and participating in competitive robotics. |
